A photo a talented friend took of me, one January afternoon in Rome. We had just enjoyed a casual cafe lunch adjacent to the world famous Pantheon. It’s not everyday that you encounter structures from the 2nd century A.D.

hey kourtney! i'm studying abroad in florence this fall and i was wondering if you could think of any essentials - clothing, necessities, etc. - that would be helpful for my semester! thank you! oh and as always, i love your tumblr!

Hi lovely! Thank you for your sweet words and I’m so glad I could be of help to you! I’m so excited you have the opportunity to study there as well; you will have THE best time of your life.

So, there’s quite a bit of climate change through the Fall months. A pair of flat boots will be necessary for the colder weather; you will be very thankful for them. You will need one fantastic warm coat that you can wear all the time once late Fall/Winter rolls around; may I suggest that you purchase it once over there? I will tell you now, you won’t have any trouble finding great purchases! I may also suggest that you leave plenty of room in your suitcase for souvenirs & shopping, unless you’re planning on mailing things home.

In the beginning month or so, the weather should be just beautiful! Be prepared to wear your favorite pieces & combinations because I found that there was a lot more creative freedom for everyday ensembles over there. And lastly, the cobblestone streets in Florence aren’t the most manageable to conquer in heels. It’s definitely possible, but just something to be aware of when choosing shoes to pack. You will be doing quite a bit of walking on those streets, but it’s always a good excuse to have more of the fantastic gelato! I wish you the best of luck with your trip darlin’ girl. Cherish each day that you’re there, it’s such a blessing.

All the best,
Kourtney

My favorite photo that I took of Firenze, overlooking the Arno river and “Ponte vecchio,” the old bridge.

I took this photo in a little woodworking shop in Rome. Everything in the shop was made my hand, as I have a great appreciation for.

A photo from Burano, a lovely little island in the Venitian Lagoon. I fell in love with this island for two main reasons: Firstly, it is dedicated to the craft of hand-making lace; secondly, every house on the island is painted in a brilliant color. I miss it.
